Do you struggle with Autistic or ADHD Burnout? For years I thought there was no way to get more done without feeling drained.

Feel like you're constantly fighting against distractions and overwhelm? You're not alone.

Have you ever thought about an online co-working group? Online co-working (sometimes called body doubling) offers a unique solution for folks who don't thrive in traditional work environments, but struggle with consistency working from home.

These sessions offer people like us a few advantages.

  • Accountability and Structure: Regular co-working sessions create a sense of routine and accountability, helping you stay on track with your goals. Sadly, many of us struggle to show up for ourselves. Until we can develop that sort of internal control, the accountability of Neurodivergent Co-Working Groups can help. (No judgment, I fall into this group!)

  • Community and Support: Connect with others who understand your challenges and celebrate your successes. This sense of belonging can be especially beneficial for those who are isolated or who struggle to form connections. Seeing other people who move, talk, and act like you is essential to healing social trauma and building self-esteem.

  • Reduced Sensory Overload: Those who are stressed in the work environment, but reluctant to WFH because they fear they will lack discipline can take advantage of this "middle path" solution. Enjoy the comfort of WFH with the accountability of an office space.

  • Help with Unseen Obstacles: Sometimes our inability to get started on a project is rooted in emotional trauma. Tackling these tasks in the energy of a supportive community can help them feel a little easier.

My Neurodivergent Co-Working Experience; I Doubled Productivity

Kristy Forbes is an Australian-based autism and neurodiversity support specialist who offers a variety of programs and resources for families.  I first experienced co-working as part of her family support group. I loved the concept, but they are held monthly and she is based in the UK. I found myself feeling guilty for not attending.

Sleep is massively important. I couldn't keep waking up in the middle of the night to do paperwork with people overseas. So, I searched for a co-working buddy in my friend group. I found one! We have been meeting for co-working sessions online for the last 2 months and here is what I experienced:

  • I more than doubled my weekly productivity, allowing me more time for rest and recovery.

  • I was able to meet expectations I previously thought were unreasonable, significantly reducing my stress and anxiety

  • I don't feel as isolated, and my mood is better

Keeping regular weekly hours of protected time has been remarkable for my well-being. I am opening up our meetings, starting next week! Now you can join me!

Cameras, mics, and interaction in general are all optional. If you want to say what you are working on, or you want to chat in a breakout room, you can put that in the chat.

People who feel social can gather in the mics-on breakout room. And others who wish to work quietly can plug away in the main room.

These sessions are a real game-changer for me and I look forward to sharing them with you! RSVP is not necessary once you have the link. This is a recurring meeting. Drop in, drop out at your disposal.

We meet on Google Meet, which you can access from the app, any browser, or your Gmail workspace or calendar.

If you have any questions, reach out using the chat option at the bottom of your screen, and I will do my best to answer! I hope to see you at a co-working session sometime soon.

Speak kindly to yourselves,

Nicole
